Heads up, there are some things in the Georgia COVID-19 data we need to talk about before my next newsletter. First, using both PCR and antigen test case data, our 7-day case rate per 100,000 has now exceeded where we were at the height of the summer surge. 1/
6 hosp regions are using >90% of their ICU beds, including A (91%), C (96%), E (97%), H (91%), L (100%), and N (92%). For region L, using 100% today, there is trouble on the horizon. Their currently hospitalized COVID-19 population is growing, doubling in the past month. 2/
Things aren't good for region E either (Athens-Clarke and surrounding areas). They're using 97% of their ICU beds *and* seeing a dramatic increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the past week. They are not far now from their peak during the summer. 3/
Here's how ICU bed usage looks across GA, with currently hospitalized COVID pts
daily. Statewide, we are nearing our previous peak, during the summer surge. Keep in mind that we aren't seeing Thanksgiving's impact yet either. Please, please make good choices. 4/4
