Heads up, there are some things in the Georgia COVID-19 data we need to talk about before my next newsletter. First, using both PCR and antigen test case data, our 7-day case rate per 100,000 has now exceeded where we were at the height of the summer surge. 1/
6 hosp regions are using >90% of their ICU beds, including A (91%), C (96%), E (97%), H (91%), L (100%), and N (92%). For region L, using 100% today, there is trouble on the horizon. Their currently hospitalized COVID-19 population is growing, doubling in the past month. 2/
Things aren't good for region E either (Athens-Clarke and surrounding areas). They're using 97% of their ICU beds *and* seeing a dramatic increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the past week. They are not far now from their peak during the summer. 3/
Here's how ICU bed usage looks across GA, with currently hospitalized COVID pts⬆️daily. Statewide, we are nearing our previous peak, during the summer surge. Keep in mind that we aren't seeing Thanksgiving's impact yet either. Please, please make good choices. 4/4
