#LiveScam A scammer just called our #FBI office posing as a "Social Security Agent."

We typically urge people to hang up on scammers, but in this case, we want to see how these guys operate.

Follow along as we take you into the criminal world of phone scammers! #ARnews
The first clear indication that this is a #LiveScam is the pre-recorded voice message threatening to “suspend” our Social Security number.

The @SocialSecurity Administration does not “suspend” SSNs over the phone.

We were just transferred to a “Social Security Supervisory Agent” who is asking for our name, birth date, and zip code. Always keep in mind that scammers can use personal information to steal someone’s identity.

#LiveScam Now things are getting interesting!

After giving fictitious information to the last scammer, we were again transferred. Now we're speaking with a “US Marshal” who is reviewing our information.

Pro tip: @USMarshalsHQ won't ask for personal information over the phone.
#LiveScam The fake “US Marshal” just informed us that our SSN info was found in a vehicle near the Texas border.
Apparently, that vehicle was part of a federal crime and the scammers are saying we can be held liable for that crime.

This is a surprisingly elaborate scam.
This fake “US Marshal” just brought in another scammer on this call… apparently, it’s a “US Attorney!”
He's here to "sort this mess out."

We’re being told that if we give them our SSN, they’ll replace it in one day with a new one.

Somehow, that doesn’t sound right… #LiveScam
This whole #LiveScam has lasted about 20 minutes, and they’ve threatened to arrest us multiple times.

No police agency will ever threaten arrest over the phone. Not a single one.

We’re going to break cover on this #scam now & urge the scammers to abandon their criminal careers.
Don’t fall victim to this type of #LiveScam.
If a scammer calls you, hang up.
If they threaten to arrest you, hang up.

If you think you’ve been a victim of a #scam, call us. We want to help!
Our number is 501-221-9100. #ARnews
