Nothing will replace the "theater experience" but the problem is, so many theaters spent decades banking on them being the ONLY place to see movies for a while. They cared less about ensuring an unforgettable experience and will need to find that focus again.
Whether it's better seating, better cleaning procedures, enforcing no phone policies, or just fucking calibrating their screens/projectors like they should be doing regularly, they need to remind audiences of the things they can't get at home.
And that doesn't get into the cost aspect. Lot of us don't realize how prohibitive theaters can be. I created a WHOLE ASS CHARITY based on giving kids in need the chance to go. EVERY event there were multiple kids in attendance who'd never had the chance to go.
