Is the idea that, if the elderly/vulnerable can be vaccinated in the first months, that this eliminates the main argument for continued shutdowns/restrictions? Yes, some non-vulnerable can get very sick, but seems rare enough that it is a weak argument for continued shutdown.
Shutting schools is disastrous for kids and their parents' ability to work. And the cost of destroying the entire hospitality, tourism, and entertainment industries is great as well. Have I missed some discussion of this policy item?
I worry that the political polarization of this issue in the US, because of one mad President, means that it's difficult for non-Republicans to endorse this view, or debate.
