The odd thing about vaccine allocation is that from the perspective of stopping viral spread it probably makes sense to vaccinate younger ppl, who are more likely to be going out and not social distancing - and who are therefore more likely to catch and transmit the virus.
The problem, obviously, is that when older people get the virus, the consequences are generally much more serious, so you want to protect them.
And we don't actually know if these vaccines will protect people from catching the virus - we only know right know that they'll make it far less likely that people will get sick from the virus. So in that case, vaccinating young ppl would be a waste of time.
It's just a thought experiment - young ppl who aren't essential workers are going to be end of the line. And from a social-solidarity point of view that makes perfect sense. Just interesting to think about what you'd do if it didn't make sense from a public-health perspective.
