The second Georgia Senate hearing is about to start. They still won’t let many inside but I managed.

Sen. Ligon starts with a prayer “that if there's anything that's not truthful that might come out of our mouth I pray that he would just remove that from our mouths.” #gapol https://twitter.com/gasenatepress/status/1334483003838504967
FYI: I’m not going to purely livetweet everything that’s said, starting with Rudy Giuliani, because there is a history of lies and misinformation from these parties.

And this Georgia legislative committee is a vehicle for it.
Ray Smith, the lawyer for Lin Wood’s failed attempt to block certification of Georgia’s election, who also was way out of his depth and stumped by judge’s questions in a hearing, is now alleging widespread fraud, throwing out numbers about purported illegal votes without evidence
The big piece of evidence they’re showing now is allegedly some Republican monitors were told to go home but ballots were still being counted.

Fulton/State debunked those conspiracies about illegal counting and said that official SoS monitors were still there watching.

Next!
By the way - none of this is under oath.

And affidavits don’t necessarily mean anything if the statements aren’t true or lack context.

Most affidavits filed so far in these cases are from people who have no clue what they’re watching (or are redacted Venezuelan experts)
Senator @elenaparent: since this was debunked by the Secretary of State, what evidence can you give to us that counters what our elections officials have presented us with?

Giuliani team: they didn’t have the video

(???) https://twitter.com/stphnfwlr/status/1334564590827483139
I almost forgot about this.

SR 459 is something the Senate passed to take action against people who lie to them in testimony.

Somehow don’t see that doing anything in this case!
The witnesses presenting information to lawmakers aren’t doing a very good job of presenting facts.

They’ve admitted they don’t have the full picture and context behind the things they’re presenting. They don’t understand how elections work in Georgia.
Rudy Giuliani is up now. He’s reading from an affidavit that doesn’t even get the name of Georgia’s voting vendor right. It’s a joke.

That affidavit also misunderstands how absentee votes are counted and recorded.
The president’s personal attorney is using a live-streamed state legislative hearing to spread debunked conspiracies and lies about the election Trump lost to try and overturn the certified votes.

And Georgia Republicans are enabling it. https://twitter.com/stphnfwlr/status/1334572392308412420
This is allegedly a hearing of the Georgia Senate Judiciary Subcommittee. But we have Rudy Giuliani questioning a supposed expert over Zoom about unsubstantiated evidence in a court case that a judge said had "precious little proof." https://twitter.com/stphnfwlr/status/1334572392308412420?s=20
Take a shot every time you hear someone mention Hugo Chavez/Smartmatic - and be sure to call a DD to take you home.

Nothing that has been said so far in this hearing has been grounded in reality or truth. It's not a question or partisan statement.
I mean no disrespect to anyone else covering this but just streaming this or amplifying any part of this without the required context, debunking and facts is doing harm to our elections process.

It's not that hard - none of these people have credibility or have shown evidence.
This is all speculation from people who can't even get basic facts about Georgia elections correct, masquerading as facts, given credence by elected officials in Georgia. If you believe this you're being lied to!
In the hearing earlier today, lawmakers asked silly questions about voting, the state calmly and factually answered. This is not that. https://twitter.com/CharlieGileNBC/status/1334582306128994309?s=20
In another self-own, the video shared by Giuliani and the Trump campaign actually confirms the state's story that they still had an official monitor present watching the vote counting, even after partisan observers left. https://twitter.com/stphnfwlr/status/1334583982613278731?s=20
The current witness is a GOP activist and poll manager who has shared conspiracy theories about voting machine hacking and switching directed by Hugo Chavez etc. etc.
Notice the slight goalpost-moving in comments.

Everything the chairman says *is* true - ppl left - but specific allegation being made is that *nobody* supervised the counting, which the state said isn't true because they had an observer present. https://twitter.com/DavidShafer/status/1334580765791834114?s=20
Now we're hearing from someone who *thinks* something looked kinda shady, without making any actual allegations. Again, not evidence.
I can't remember the last time actual lawmakers in this alleged Senate hearing have asked many questions or directed the conversation.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to be accomplished.
For all of these claims, ask two things:

Is it filed in a lawsuit? and

What's the outcome of that suit.

Most of the things alleged here have either not been made into filings, or have been denied/struck down by judges.
I'm just going to leave this here, from a witness who just spoke:

"The process is flawed when your urine is more protected than your vote. And that is what happened."
This hearing could run until 7, and we still haven't heard solid actual evidence from witnesses who understand GA election law+processes. But during the break Rudy Giuliani came over and was very complementary to the two Democratic senators Jordan and Parent asking questions.
MEANWHILE:

(testimony not under oath from a bunch of random people that haven't shown actual, provable evidence is not it) https://twitter.com/RudyGiuliani/status/1334620731045507073?s=20
Here's the thing, y'all.

I've covered the ins and outs of Georgia's election system for the last 2.5 years. How things work. When they haven't (and believe me, they haven't). Traveled+talked to officials in all corners of the state.

This isn't grounded in that reality.
People on the left have claimed I'm a shill for the state because of my coverage of voting. People on the right have claimed I'm a shill for the state for other coverage of voting.

People who know voting and elections know that I report facts+context. https://twitter.com/stphnfwlr/status/1334627769267970049?s=20
All that to say - we're now hearing from a conservative scholar who falsely said Kamala Harris was not a U.S. citizen, who is now trying to outline why the legislature should take action to appoint its own electors - something that is unlikely to happen or be supported.
Here's another inconvenient fact: a special session could only be called to seat an alternate slate of electors by 2/3 vote of chambers - not happening because Republicans don't have a supermajority - or by the Governor, who's gave a big 'ole nope to the idea.
Rudy Giuliani is leaving, but not before monologuing more election falsehoods, saying that it was a concerted plan in majority-Black areas controlled by Democrats to steal the election. This is the tip of the elite spear, y'all.
Currently hearing from the 10th place out of 20 finisher in the #GASEN special election who is currently making an argument that she doesn't understand how UOCAVA ballots work or active/inactive voter numbers work.

And OANN has left the room, but we still have more witnesses.
We're wrapping up with comments from Senators... Sen. Parent says she's been attacked and people have been posting her address since the hearing has started, Sen. Gooch says "we have a problem" with election policies in this state and Sen. Brass says we must find the truth.
Gooch is now saying the legislature should request FBI and GBI help to do a "full forensic audit" of the Nov. 3 election. Not sure what that would entail exactly. The votes have been counted 3 times, and the state did a forensic audit of voting equipment already.
Sen. Carden Summers says he supports calling for a special session and would gladly re-do the election to make sure it is "fair and balanced."

Again, that's almost impossible to happen, because you need 2/3 legislature or Governor calling for it.
Sen. Beach: "Our goal as a state in my opinion should have the election results by the 11 O'Clock News, the night of the election."

That's impossible, if nothing else because the deadline for military/overseas votes that is later. And it shows a lack of understanding of process.
