Job descriptions for positions in Shanghai and Beijing from Intel, Xilinx, Nvidia and others make that clear.
An Intel field applications engineer in China, according to Glassdoor, closely assists system builders, like supercomputer makers, with many tasks.
Just a few examples:
•Be the technical account owner who aligns with key influencers in the customer's technical staff
•Uncover essential information and synthesize into account and opportunity profiles
•Present capabilities of Intel programmable solutions and perform demonstrations of feasibility studies and proofs of concept in customer meetings and seminars
•Create technical proposals based on product portfolio knowledge, customer requirements and inputs from the team…
