Rappers as NBA Stars, a thread:
Kanye West & Kobe Bryant:
Both rose to stardom in the early 00s and were considered living legends throughout the 10s
Tupac Shakur & Michael Jordan:
GOATS, Its quite possible that nobody will ever do it at their level again, with MJ’s 6 rings dominating the 90s being equivalent of 4 outstanding 2pac albums. Both had total confidence in their craft.
Kendrick Lamar & LeBron James:
Nobody quite dominated the 10s like Kendrick Lamar & Bron, both claim goat status but will always have their doubters despite putting out amazing music and filling up box scores, while also capturing numerous accolades along the way
Jay Z & Shaq:
After rising up in the 90s, these 2 stars reached their peaks in the early 00s and then had enough star power to stick around the game for years after
Rakim & Magic Johnson:
These 2 dominated the 80s and inspired so many that came after them, with Magic Johnson changing the pg position forever and Rakim being a hip hop pioneer
Young Thug & Stephen Curry
These 2 have completely changed the game and accomplished incredible success, but will probably truly never get the credit they actually deserve
Lil Wayne & Allen Iverson:
Both took over the game in the 00s but are criticized for inconsistency, however nobody can deny the absolute skill both carry
Nas & Isiah Thomas:
Absolute stars in the 90s who were unafraid to get in beef and are often under appreciated
Andre 3000 & Vince Carter:
One word describes these 2 perfectly: Longevity. Both peaked in the late 90s / early 00s, Vince went on to have the longest career in nba history and 3k’s feature game continues to be legendary
Drake & Kevin Durant:
These 2 owned the 10s, but people will always question their ability to do it on their own, either way the skill and commercial success can’t be denied.
50 Cent & Ben Wallace:
Dont mess with them. Curtis Jackson & Ben Wallace are insane athletes who made it despite crazy low odds. Ben Wallace’s 04 ring is the exact equivalent of 50’s legendary album, Get Rich or Die Trying
Mos Def & Kevin Garnett:
Under appreciated stars who have some outstanding achievements and undeniable skill.
Mac Miller & Derrick Rose:
These 2 got off to great starts in the early 10s and are legendary in their own right. Both had unlimited potential cut short :(
Tyler, the Creator & Giannis Antetokounmpo:
Rising to stardom in the late 10s, these 2 are on top of the game right now
Eminem & Carmelo Anthony:
2 of the best primes of all time, and although the end of their careers haven’t been as great, Melo can still drop 20 the same way Em can still hop on a feature and murder it
Travis Scott & James Harden:
Houston’s favorite stars, Harden & Scott find themselves among the most popular in the game right now, and their skill sets cannot be denied
