oh my god

i say i'm done but i'm not done

because i have no self control and this topic is really frustrating because no one is being honest about the fact that they want police but don't want to say they want police out of fear of not appearing woke or whatever.
like, if you think policing is good and that cops are great, that's fine. tell somebody so we can try to convince you otherwise.

but stop arguing about the motherfucking slogan or i will turn this car around

GAHHHHH
and maybe one thing people could do is stop calling everyone bootlickers all the time.

i mean yeah, i'm gonna mock people like matt yglesias, but there are regular ass people on here afraid to speak up because people are going to start yelling at them for being bootlickers.
give people a chance to learn and move left.

that's the whole point of being a progressive.
We don't even know what a world without overpolicing of communities of color even looks like.

What would that do to crime rates? What if a black kid could come forward when he commits a petty crime and be assured they're not going to end up dead or in jail for two years?
Would that kid have even committed the crime in the first place, if there were adequate funding for schools, and after school programs. If he had enough food in his belly and had all the technology he needed to do his homework. If his mom didn't have to work 3 jobs.

????
One point Mariame Kaba made in a pod with Chris Hayes is that most people engage in community based law enforcement already. If some kid throws a baseball through your window, you're not gonna call the cops. You're gonna go work out a solution with the kid's family.
My point is just this:

If we spend 100B on policing nationwide and this system is killing and incarcerating BIPOC folks, why not slice off a billion and give it to a group of police abolitionists and see what they can come up with. Where's the harm in that?
or we could argue about a slogan some more.
