THREAD of my favorite Tyler Herro plays/moments and why I think he truly unleashes if he starts this year.
Also why Heat fans love this kid.
First, to start, these two plays sum up his game perfectly. 4Q step back 3 over Marcus Smart and then a DIME.
He’s a big time playmaker.

I think this was the moment I said (and tweeted) this kid’s gonna be a star.
It’s not that he made the shot, it’s that he *took* the shot. Cold blooded.

This is... wild. His ability to get into the paint off defenders worried about his 3 ball coupled with his insane touch/control around the rim is LETHAL.
This is the 20 year old taking an elite defender to the hole in the 4th quarter of game 6 of the Conference Finals.
Nuff said.

This. Is. Why. He. Can. Play. Point.
Rebounds, runs the break, sees everything, threatens to pull, gets the defender in the air, dime inside to Jimmy. Textbook.

It’s the confidence for me. Lets it fly.
He was consistently balling in the 4th quarter of big/close games. Taking and making big time shots.
What’s crazier is that Spo trusts the kid this much this early. This is OT of a *playoff* game, and he drills a shot off a design you’d run for *Klay*.

Okay so he can score off the dribble and running off screens and spotting up. Cool. But can he bail you out at the end of a stagnant possession?
Yep, that’s in his bag too.

Is he a solid defender? Not yet but he’s also not as bad as Twitter tells you. Here he recovers and gets the steal, and turns defense into offense.
One of my FAVORITES. Against an elite Raptors D. Beats Siakam, uses a hesitation move to get by Powell, fakes Lowry, finishes with the left, somehow avoiding Ibaka. Jeez.
@OpenGymAnunoby @generalmngmnt @JustEsBaraheni @Kendrawacharge @Too_Much_Hoops can the kid get some love?!

Tatum had absolutely zero chance here. Once Herro gets near the rim, it’s kinda game over. Beautiful reverse.
This is impressive, sure. Slight fake knowing AD would swat it. Side steps, drills it over AD who recovered well.
But... it’s the poise. He looks like he’s been doing this for 10 years.

Whenever you make a play that gets a “Are you kidding me... That is TOUGH” from DORIS BURKE... you balling fr.
The offensive IQ here is crazy for 20.

It’s actually crazy how easily he gets inside off that first step, and his handles aren’t even that tight yet.
Him and Bam are gonna be a problem. Perfect dime. Whole defense is worried about him because of his touch around the rim.

He takes *Anthony Davis* baseline and finishes with the lefty reverse.
And then that Eurostep. Jesus.

Lol Herro did his thing against Smart. Crazy tough shot as the clock winds.
Again he creates off penetration and finds his guy after leaving his feet.
And then he makes another big time 4th quarter shot in a playoff game.
One thing about Herro that’s underrated is his spatial awareness.

He was closing games for us. Playoff games. And again off a design you’d draw up for Steph, Klay, Beal, Booker.
His floater is money. Uses body well to shield long enough to get it up. And this is against a great defender who is bigger and stronger than him.
Gets the lefty finish over Middleton *and* Brook Lopez, plus the foul.
This isn’t supposed to happen lol.

Not just a scorer. Playmaker. Creator.
Another lethal fake and side step over *another* elite defender.
@OpenGymAnunoby @Herrojuku @Too_Much_Hoops @JustEsBaraheni last Toronto one I promise. But I hope we see lots of OG vs Herro back and forths over the years.

Start Herro at the 1 and him and Bam will do this 3 times a game at the absolute minimum.
His ability to finish and get off high difficulty shots over bigger guys with this kind of touch is why he has the tools to be an elite scorer.
What else can you say at this point?
Oh look, another big time 4th quarter shot in a playoff game. While trailing.
Doris: “This guy...”
This was a signature moment.

What. Is. This. Finish?
This is the play where I screamed.
I did. What a pass. Man.
