If I made a list of basic geology I wish everyone knew it would include:
1) floodplains and why you shouldn’t build there
2) the amount and types of mined materials everyone uses without knowing it
3)earthquakes and hazards
4) what is a rock/mineral and what isn’t

5) very basic rock cycle and rock type
6) maybe like 5-10 minerals
7) that groundwater doesn’t come from giant lakes underground
8) plate tectonics
9) basic volcano/volcanic hazards
10) landslides and why you gotta be careful where and how you build stuff

11) very basic understanding of geologic time
12) fossils bc they need something fun

Basically, the things that are relevant to the average person. Save the more detailed stuff and jargon from the geologists
