Y’all, schedule blackout days for next semester where you don’t answer emails or have meetings so you can rest.
I’m saying this esp for my folks in the academy. Universities are talking about having no spring break.

It is unhealthy to work and work for fourteen/sixteen weeks with no let up.
You might give yourself a long weekend a month. Or a whole week in the middle.
And if you are an instructor and can help it, give your students (and yourself) rest weeks. I did it with my students and it was so helpful. They appreciated it and I think we were able to better sustain our energy across the already-hard semester.
We took a break from having class or assignments around week 5 and week 11. I encouraged them to rest that week, or read ahead if they felt inclined.
Taking breaks, slowing down, taking a breather, doesn’t take away from the rigor of the course.
And schedule blackout days for writing if you need to. All you do is write. Give yourself permission to not answer emails or scroll on social media.
A lot of us are (rightfully) tired, exhausted, weary. Reclaim time to rest. And not just through the holidays.
Capitalism is designed to run you ragged. Don’t let it.
