Last time my doctor's office called about my payment for a telemedicine visit, I tried explaining I had to call back because it would take me like 20 minutes to get to my credit card. The receptionist was grumpy
Today I said I just got out of the shower & she was fine

In general I really like this receptionist, she is actually really great at accurately passing on messages and so maybe she just had a bad day
But it's just the little ableisms that add up, where people can't even comprehend that it would take me 20 minutes at least to sit up and climb a flight of stairs

there's just so much stuff in my reality that takes up so much energy and mental space, like remembering not to sit up too fast and minimizing trips up the stairs
And many people just don't even know it's a thing because it's not reflected in books or TV or whatever

plus if I've learned anything on Twitter, it's that there are a lot of people struggling with undiagnosed chronic illnesses or MH stuff or whatever
who often blame themselves for not being able to "just push through it" like they think everyone else is doing

I just think...if we had more mainstream representation of disabled life actually written by disabled people, performed by disabled people
