परलोक में अधिक भोग का अवसर पाने की कामना से किया गया त्याग, त्याग नहीं रहता - #यशपाल

Born on Dec 03, 1903, in Punjab, #Yashpal youth in revolt, a fervent apostle of liberty, an expounder of criticism and truth shocked everyone with his writings.
He studied at Gurukul-Kangri, Hardwar, and at National College, Lahore. When the nation was agog with a patriotic activity that kindled in him the fire to liberate the country from the foreign yoke. He was initially drawn to Non-Cooperation Movement. #Yashpal
But felt that such movements were unresponsive to the needs of the poor and ineffective with the British & was attracted to the more fiery Revolutionary Movement. He joined Hindustan Socialist Republican Army to overthrow the British rule by armed struggle via people's revolution
Among his comrades were martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Chandra Shekhar Azad & Bhagwati Charan Vohra. On 24 Dec 1929 Yashpal & Bhagwati Charan bombed the Viceroy Lord Irwin's train at Delhi that created quite a stir. Captured in an encounter at Allahabad & sentenced to 14Yrs jail.
Later, he was released in 1938 under General Amnesty for political prisoners by the Government. This marked the beginning of his career as a writer. From his earliest writing to the last, he campaigned relentlessly for an equal place for women in society. #Yashpal
He often questioned illogical and repulsive religious practices. His novel 'Jhootha Sach', about India's partition, has been compared to the works of Balzac & Victor Hugo and in scope and breadth to Tolstoy's "War & Peace". #Yashpal
#Yashpal was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1970. Yashpal's style was simple and lucid and his writings revealed his grasp and deep insight into the problems he was dealing with. He has left an indelible mark on Hindi literature.
On his birth centenary, this stamp was issued that depicts the writer in a pensive mood and highlights his concern for gender issues. #Yashpal
