In January 2018, I began my doctoral journey @LJMU with a vision to give rise to new research by blending the evidence-base (the ‘SCIENCE’) and my experiences (the ‘ART’) working as a applied practitioner in the @premierleague for over a decade.
This process has been far from straightforward and much like the chaotic environment that the end stages of rehabilitation should attempt to recreate, it has been filled with many unanticipated movements.
It is my intention that sharing this information will stimulate further discussion amongst practitioners around the application of the ‘control-chaos continuum’ in elite football and across other sports including but not limited to @AFL, @NBA, @premrugby, @NHL and @NFL.
Furthermore, as injury and re-injury are major problems in elite sport, it is hoped that this research will highlight the importance of clubs having ADAPTABLE PROCESSES and STAFF in place to deliver high-quality individualised rehabilitation to facilitate effective RTS.
I would also like to give credit to @philglasgow, @NicolaPhillPT and @ChrisMBleakley for the ‘optimal loading’ concept which stimulated and reinforced my thought processes around the application of S&C to the injured athlete - an integral element of the RTS process.
