@PECCAfrica just asked how we set up our CRRT live-simulation-non-presential workshop in #WFPICCS20.
For further technical INFO contact @Rafa_B612. #PedsICU #Simulation
Let's go with a short thread

Let's start with what attendants were able to see/hear from their computers:
Patient monitor
+ CRRT monitor screen
+ patient video
+ instructors video.
We used free Open Boradcaster Software ( @OBSProject) to set up a video signal and used as a virtual camera on ZOOM.

Patients monitor video signal was produced using @laerdalmedical Simbaby software. We used a VGA splitter, a VGA to HDMI cable converter and a HDMI to USB video capturer to get the signal to the transmitter PC. All bought in Amazon (around 50€).
We used another set with the same pieces to get the video signal from the CRRT monitor to the transmitter PC. We used #prsimaflex @baxter_intl. It has an VGA port inside. Be careful, you have to get access to the inner part of the machine. Contact your local technician.
We used a simulator connected to #prismaflex to modify pressures to simulate complications but this can also be done with some nurse plastic clamps. This is our simulator, designed with the help of @SantiMenci among others. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10047-013-0743-z
The instructors participating in the workshop were:
Dr. @macosantiago
Dr. Fernández Lafever
Dr. Lópex-Herce Cid
and Dr. @Rafa_B612
Despite time difference attendees were really enthusiastic and participatory.
Great opportunity to teach and learn through medical simulation.

Although non face-to-face live medical simulation offers great opportunities to share knowledge, it will never substitute hands on medical simulation.
