Detransition shouldn’t be anymore of an influence on access to trans healthcare than abortion regret should be on access to pregnancy termination
Trans people aren’t unfeeling about people who regret transitioning we are just panicked by the incorrect association made between someone else’s regret and our autonomy. Just as women and other pregnant people would be regarding abortion
Access to abortion - even for teens - is a progressive position because we recognise the life changing effects and deleterious impact of unwanted pregnancy. All trans people are saying is that unwanted puberty can be the same, for some people
By the way abortion can make a person infertile in limited cases whereas there’s no evidence that puberty blockers without cross sex hormones can. There’s no logical feminist position of opposing a 14yo taking a blocker while thinking they should be able to have an abortion.
Which, FYI, is why Christian Right groups and lawyers are so interested in litigation around blockers. Just a thought
