Writing your thoughts based on your intuition towards art is better than writing your thoughts based on your "intellect" towards art. There's always a clear barrier between objectivity and subjectivity when it comes with art itself which shapes variable like facts and verdicts.
If you are able to capture the purpose of one's art towards your view, then you are also able to give your positive attraction towards it because you have found a value on it in aesthetic-wise. Hence, you love it and you might consider it as your favorite.
If you cannot find something good to your own eyes, then it's best to drop it wisely because you can't comprehend it that much. There's no need to feel superior or inferior about having obscure/mainstream favorites because there's always a presence of equal opposition.
Why do you have to eat the Best Salmon Dish even if you really don't like salmon? If you like that "Best Salmon Dish" more than other salmon dishes, then what's the point of your deprecation towards it in the first place? If you get allergies from it then, that'll be sickening.
It's sickening because your taste on it is complicated. The medical variable of why you still dislike the taste of salmon is still present within the "Best Salmon Dish". If you apply it towards anime, then there's a problem of choosing anime wisely in the first place.
You don't need to watch more and more anime for expanding your taste. You really have to choose "good" anime that matches your taste, and if you explore more genres despite there's something you like and dislike, then that's how your taste is being expanded.
The logical thing about taste is based on one's personal experiences. If you really can't get invested towards X show, then why not drop it? Every show has a strongest aspect of its own without a doubt, and those aspects are for someone who are able to grasp it. To each their own
In writing something intuitive, it's your own job to articulate every aspect that you find it praiseworthy and thoughts/feelings towards it. Mingling between thoughts and feelings will result into a passionate degree of your reasoning. Don't write like a logical robot.
There's a quote that says, "One man's waste is another man's treasure."

That's all you need to stick it inside your mind for self-aware purposes. Make it as a Golden Rule of being considerate towards each other's taste too.
