For those of you attempting to transition FROM their parent’s home: BE SMART. Plan accordingly. Make a list of essential items (that you take for granted) that you don’t own. Start accumulating each item (as you can). Yes, this means saving and spending at the same time ⬇️
If you work, each pay period you should purchase one thing to get you closer to independence. So by the time you’re ready to make the move, you also have all of the household essentials. Trust me on this... it’s better to be prepared.
Utilize gift GETTING opportunities to accumulate stuff too. By the time I moved out, I had a full set of China, silverware, glasses, cookware, bakeware, towels, bed linens, microwave, ironing board/iron, mop/broom, cleaning supplies - ESSENTIALS (for me).
If somebody asks you what you want for Christmas, tell them you want a set of towels. Tell them you want a toaster lol. Real shit. All the things you take for granted, go out and buy them now! Big Lots and Walmart are your friends. Don’t forget a can opener and set of knives!
If you want to show them (and yourself) that you’re ready, then you’ll start GETTING READY...by taking the necessary steps. These simple things will save you tons of drama and confusion. Don’t set yourself up for failure and defeat. Go in like a grownup and own that shit.
The worst thing you can do is move out unprepared. It isn’t the most responsible move. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You’re already spending whatever to move in, then you have to furnish AND HAVE ESSENTIALS!! Most times you blow all your money just moving in. Still gotta turn on utilities...
So starting out WELL PREPARED will save you in the long run. Preparation is also part of manifesting it to happen. By taking the steps to get you closer to your desire... so remember, Christmas, birthdays...ask for household stuff. Store it all in your closet. Make room.
