THREAD

Each day when I open Twitter, I first go through my notifications and answer them.

I then check new followers and follow back those with profiles.

I spend the next hour or more going through the previous 18hrs of the @abcnews feed. /2
2. After all the climate change hysteria, the homophobia, the racism and the ableist stories, I honestly feel like taking a shower.

What I learn from these is:

- Australians are horrible people: environmentally irresponsible, homophobic, racist and ableist. /3
3.

- the ABC is the moral arbiter of our country

- the ABC is an activist organisation, advocating for minorities on the basis of largely perceived/imagined vicissitudes, whilst in the main ignoring the majority /4
4.

- when the ABC covers political stories, there is an inevitable and palpable Left/Green bias

The ABC is predominantly a bunch of joyless, self-loathing individuals who loathe their country and fellow countrymen and wallow in misery. /5
5.

Since misery loves company, they spread it far and wide.

In the main, Australians are not horrible people. We're kind, generous of spirit and pocket, thoughtful, helpful, compassionate, with a dose of larrikinism, calling a spade a spade and knowing what a fair go is. /6
6. The ABC's portrayal of us as the opposite is dangerous: tell a story often enough and it becomes accepted fact that creates a self-fulfilling prophesy.

This is not what we want. It is not who we are. It's time to call out the ABC on every story. Please join me in doing this.
