If anyone wants to know what I said to my 13 yr old daughter after which she desisted it was nothing more than the unvarnished truth: first they block puberty so you don’t reach peak height or peak IQ, your bones don’t mineralize so you might need a jaw hip or knee replacement
Then they give you testosterone - along with a deeper man’s voice, cystic acne, male pattern baldness, (various increased risk for cancers but honestly it was the acne that got her) then your vagina will atrophy and ultimately can cause a lot of pain specially at orgasm
The they cut off your breasts
The they cut open your clitoris and put in a metal wire that can be bent up to simulate an erection then bent back down after having sex
See Wikipedia (“Metoidioplasty”) and I did offer to,show her the pictures which she declined. If the schools can describe transitioning as unicorns and human rights, I felt it was my job to be more clear that this is a medical procedure, with side effects.
More recently to drive the point home I read out from his articlethe list of woes that Scott Newgent encountered
And finally I told my kids if ANYBODY in our house feels suicidal they will go to the psych ward for psychiatric care but nobody in this family will emotionally blackmail the rest of us by threatening suicidal in order to get sex change surgery
Perhaps most crucially we also dramatically limited exposure to the internet
And now my 13 yr old thinks it should be illegal to medically transition children
But my 15 yr old still gets mad when I misgender her. Sigh. I can only console myself that no one is asking for drugs or surgery. Their Dad is bald so I’m pretty sure the male pattern baldness was no empty threat.
