Roman Catholics need to study Pentecostalism. It exploded while Catholicism atrophied and now it's not hard to imagine a future where South America has more practicing Pentecostal/Evangelical type Christians than it does practicing Catholics.
The 20th century saw several major socio-economic transformations like urbanization, industrialization, mass media, capitalism etc.

These trends impede Catholic faith which was structured around rapidly vanishing traditional societies.
Pentecostalism is structured around providing guidance and relief from the challenges that are unique to modern societies (capitalist ambitions, urban anonymity etc.). Catholicism was never able to adjust for these realities.
I am not suggesting Catholicism change to become more Pentecostal. I oppose this on theological grounds.

But a Catholic structure for modern societies was never achieved, or if it was somewhere, it's not being disseminated.
Some people say "traditional Catholicism" which I'm in support of. But please separate this theological belief from "Twitter traditionalism" a giant jumble of ideas, many of which have nothing to do with tradition while others are detached from tradition all together.
