(⅓) Yesterday, on the beach near the #GreySeals, two #SableIsland horses wandered among seals resting close to the edge of the water. The horses were eating bits of vegetation washed ashore, & they found a tangle of #marramgrass leaves, stems & roots, still wet & salty…
(⅔) .. from tumbling in the surf. Although the horses occasionally find seaweed on the beach, fragments of #dunevegetation are more abundant. As dunes along the beach erode, some plant materials are carried into the sea by winds & waves, & eventually thrown back on to the beach.
