What makes an Anime review trustworthy?
How do you know whether you'll like someone's recommendations or not?

The words for me are: consistency and relatablity.

Do you understand their taste?
Do you always disagree?
Do they make great points or fail to do so?
How does their fi-
-nal score reflect the way they speak about a series?

It's important to understand what genres they're good at judging and what genres they fail to grasp.

For example: Someone who calls Violet Evergarden tear bait probably won't enjoy Anohana or Clannad. Yet if they watch and -
- bring up great points regarding Sci-fi or thrillers, they're probably who you want to see regarding that.

As for me, I love emotional series, thrillers, and Sci-fi. I often connect more to the tragic character in a plot, yet praise a happy ending.
If it's a tragedy, battle sh-
-onen, or a comedy (hit or miss depending on your taste in jokes) you're probably not going to want to agree with me if you enjoy those genres.

Each person develops an identity based on what people consider to be their "taste."
Even someone like @YukinoSzn for example has somew-
-hat predictable taste.
For example, if you love dramas, he's definitely the place to go. He's not known to really enjoy slow-builds or hard-to-see subtext. If the person is stupid, they're stupid unless presented to him otherwise.

Nobody has to ALWAYS agree. Understanding peop-
-le and their taste is important to understanding their ratings.

It's really your job when reading a review to understand the person who's speaking and take the consistency of their taste in "what things they enjoy in a story" into consideration.
