Re: "30 under 30", I started trying for an art career again at 30, sold my first freelance illustration at 32, and at 38 I'm doing my first work for MTG, have a sustainable career and some recognition. So yes, in college I didn't think it would take me 14 years to get here,
but I did. There was a lot of personal growth, development of taste, and experiences that happened in the meantime, that I wouldn't really trade for earlier entry into the industry (and high likelihood of early burn out if I had). Grow at your own rate, and in your own way....
...and don't forget to scratch those non-art itches and deal with everything else life gives you, too. Exploring your other interests will only make your eventual artistic voice *more* interesting/valuable, I promise.
