even when he was kinda out of it bc of his seizures and encephalitis sympthons. but it makes me wonder if all those caring touches hannibal would reward him with, even when he was inflicting pain, made will's body unconsiously build some type of comfort/intimacy around hannibal +
it always made me wonder why all the times hannibal touched him in s2 and s3, even when he was hurting will he would never back away. in mizumono even after hanninal stabs him, he still lets hannibal embrace him instead of trying to get away from him +
the tube scene in s1. hannibal is clearly doing a horrible thing with will's body, but he still carress his cheeks. maybe all of this unconsiously made will's body feel safe around hannibal's, even when hannibal is hurting him physically +
also imagine the betrayal. feeling so safe and comforted by someone's presence to the point that he lets the other tresspass his personal space and then this person, in which will's body trusted, betrays this trust by hurting physicaly +
which brings me to my other point: emotional intimacy.

they built this emotional intimacy to the point that hannibal thinks will is the only person who truly knows him. he don't see will hurting him physically, but we see will hurting him emotionally, betraying his trust as much as hannibal did to him +
will is closed off physically but he builts a strong physical intimacy with hannibal and hannibal betrays him in the worst way by always hurting him physically. hannibal is closed off emotionally and will betrays him in the worst way hurting him emotionall
