There is something beautiful about a dude who's a little fucked up at the moment over something handling a large truck or piece of machinery in a "go fuck yourself" manner, but doing what he needs to do flawlessly then storming off
There's a hidden dimension to what looks like a bunch of dudes standing by a hole in the side of the road or scratching heads over a machine and bitching at a each other. It overlaps with the 4HL in how it came to be, but there's a awareness to it. Like you're all writing script
The Hoover Dam and Manhattan Project had to have this quality. Humans specializing themselves into roles
Idk. It's bullshit. You had to be there. It's just being a dude. Making $?? an hour to stand around. Hired goon. I would come home from "working" and my mom would just call it "How was...being a dude?"
It was fine, Ma.
It's like being a mercenary. Think about that. The limit case for the 4HLer. You're wearing an old timey wool uniform for some empire and the guy you were just on break with takes one in the gut so you shoot your way out and get your paycheck and go home.
These are your coworkers. Your job is to survive and do what the boss man says and halfway through he runs out of cash and pays you in what you can carry.
Just a fuckin dude. Standing around. Smoking. Trying to get laid. These guys have lineage with the railroad guys who would have a family at each end of the line that didn't know about the other
Imagine that. You knock over the Aztecs and nobody knows who you are because you got paid off to go home to your fishmarm. I'd stay in the new world. Put your mind into theirs.
They climb ziggurats where sacrificial altar stones are worn smooth from bodies and convert the natives. We covert file formats and QC protocols.
