New LOTR THREAD 🚨

As requested via poll we will diving into the Origin of the Dwarves.

Let’s get this Lembas:
Aüle The Smith, one of the angel like beings that was created by Illuvatar to help make and maintain Arda(the Earth) had grown impatient waiting for the Children of Illuvatar (Elves and Men) to wake.
Being a smith and craftsman, he desired to teach his skill to Men and Elves so they can learn to make beautiful things themselves. It was then he decided to make his own version of what he imagined Men and Elves would be.
Having only a rough idea of what Men and Elves would be like, he fashioned the Dwarves and added his own characteristics.

They had no free will because they were not endowed with the ā€œsecret fireā€ by Illuvatar and could only act when Aüle moved them like puppets
Then Aüle was confronted by Illuvatar for creating his own people in disobedience. Aüle then repented and raised his hammer to destroy his creations. But Illuvatar stopped him and said that he would allow them to exist and endow them with life as his adopted Children.
And the Dwarves were created. They would be put to sleep and awakened when the first Elves were created.
The seven original Dwarves that Aüle made became the seven fathers of the race of the Dwarves.

The oldest and most important of the seven was Durin, and he was placed at Gundabad. When he awoke he traveled South and founded the kingdom of Moria.
His line was the Longbeards. And through this line we get the Tales of Thorin Oakenshield, Gimli Son of Glóin, and story of the Balrog in Moria. The other less relevant Dwarves were the, Broadbeams, Firebeards, Ironfists, Stiffbeards, Blacklocks, and Stonefoots.
An interesting point is to be made in this origin story.

Aüle was most like Melkor in manner. They both were creative and liked to fashion and build things. So why does Illuvatar adopt as his children Aüle’s creations and not Melkor, maker of all things evil?
Because the creations of Melkor are fueled by hate and jealousy of beautiful things.

His drive to create comes from his desire to rule and dominate whereas Aüle wanted to have beings to love, teach, and enjoy.
The Dwarves are unique in their skills, strengths, and weaknesses because they posses the characteristics of Aüle.
