In 1998 a new Virtual Pet was made by Bandai/WiZ known as "Magical Witches: Four Elements Communication Book". With the appearance of a book, the user would take care of a witch using magical items.
In the speelbook (魔法書) lives cute and mischievous witches, the user should take care of them so they could turn into good witches. In the end, they could turn into either Sages (賢者) or Demon Lord(魔王), depending on how the user took care of them.
The V-Pet starts with a Baby Witch (ベビーウィッチ) with a very small magical power and unable to use any spells. The player needs to use magical items and train the witch. Then the witch can changes into the next generation, learning more spells and turning smarter and stronger.
The V-Pet also had the capacity to communicate with other ones. With this the users could exchange magical items and cast spells against each other. In a way this is one of the differences between Magical Witches and Digimon.
One of the big focus of the Digital Monster V-Pet was the fight between Digimon, it was made to be more attractive to boys due to having monsters fighting each other to death.
However the focus of Magical Witches as with pranks, cute mischievous spells that the players would send to each other in this magic game. It was like "Gives the witch diarrhea" or "makes the witch hungry". It was more of cute witches doing pranks with each other.
This V-Pet didn't end well and is mostly very obscure. As such there isn't a lot of info about it. At least, @TatsuyoDragneel recreated the sprites of the generations based on the already existing info. It's really good and you should check it https://twitter.com/TatsuyoDragneel/status/1256314780966625280
According to the manual, the Magical Witches of the 4 races train magic in a magic school at the top of the Mt. Brocken (ブロッケン山), there they would learn the magic spells of the four systems. Let's learn more about them.
The Fire Witch (火のウイッチ) is from Eneruge and exists within the the Red Speelbook (赤い魔法書). They have
a big love for mischief, always having energy for that, as such they are good with Mischievous Spells (イタズラ用の呪文).
a big love for mischief, always having energy for that, as such they are good with Mischievous Spells (イタズラ用の呪文).
The Wind Witch (風のウイッチ) is from Baluluna and exists within the Green Spellbook (緑色の魔法書). They have mostly an average power and can use any spell.
The Earth Witch (土のウイッチ) is from Earthcin and exists within the Orange Speelbook (オレンジの魔法書). They are good at Defensive Magic (守り魔法) in order to prevent spells, they aren't in good terms with the Wind Witches.
And to end, the Water Witch (水のウィッチ) is from Aquary and exists within theBlue Spellbook (青い魔法の書), it's gentle and good at healing illnesses (病気) and curses (呪). They are also in good terms with both the Wind and Earth witches.
Although Magical Witches wouldn't survive beyond the four first speelbooks, it would still continue to live thanks to Digimon. Mostly, due to the Digital Monster Ver.4 released in May 1998.
There we would see the connection between Digimon and other V-Pets. mostly known by Nanimon, whose profile directly mentioned that he was an invader from another dimension, that was known as OYAJI and was raised as a digital pet, a well known reference to Tamagotchi.
And although no witch appeared in the V-Pet, Piccolomon's profile mentioned that the "magic" used was a "advanced programming language of another dimension". With Nanimon being a clear reference to Tamagotchi, you could say the same to "this magic". But this isn't everything.
And this would become even clear with "Digimon Pendulum 3.0: Nightmare Soldiers". The Digimon known as Nightmare Soldiers could be those from certain environments of the Folder Continent... or from "another place".
Of course, this would be the ones from "Digital World of different dimension", and as an example, Wizarmon, that traveled to this Digimon world from another dimension in order to train.
This other world was called "Witchelny" (ウィッチェルニー). Wizarmon already was a master in the Earth and Fire Sorcery (魔術) in his homeworld. He traveled to the Digital World in order to train more and become a master into the "Thunder" magic.
Another important information came from Piemon's profile. There it's explained that Digimon such as those from the "Demon Man" and "Undead" species are beings from other dimensions, their true forms are a mystery and can't really be explained.
Since then, new beings from Witchelny would appear in Digimon materials. Witchmon mastered the sorcery of wind and water and traveled to the DW following Wizarmon, they are rivals, to train. The special moves "Aquary Pressure" and "Baluluna Gale" are references to the clans.
Sorcerimon is Wizarmon's comrade and traveled to the DW from Witchelny . Curiously, Sorcerimon is master of the sorcery of Light and Ice, both of them weren't among the Four Elements of the original Magical Witches series.
There's also Fla Wizarmon, evolved from the power of the Digimental of Courage and as expected, it's a master on the Fire Sorcery.
And finally, Mistymon is a master in various forms of Sorcery, and is also a sword wielder and possesses skillful swordsmanship. But so far, nothing really new about the world itself. This would change with the new Digimon during the Chronicle storyline.
Medieval Dukemon is called "Legendary Hero" in Witchelny as it saved the world from invaders in an ancient past while Sorcery was still immature. This Digimon appeared and saved the world and rules over the "Vortex Warriors" that fights with weapons made by the Wind Sorcery.
We would have a lot of time without any info about Witchelny. The Digimon Twitter did a tweet about it, and a lot of people were hyped by this. But as I showed before, this wasn't really new information, as it was already a thing in the toy's manuals. https://twitter.com/digimonweb_net/status/1116537997527093248
Still in 2019 the profile for Hexeblaumon was revealed for the Digital Monster X toyline, and it was revealed that this as a master in ice sorcery and traveled to Witchelny after saving a lot of Digimon during the Digital World's Ice Age.
Wizarmon got a X-Antibody and turned into a big reference to Magical Witches as a whole. His cape has the symbols of the four clans of Witchelny and made a direct reference to Eneruge as a big influence to this form.
In other medias, some interesting things were mentioned. For example, Wizarmon was said to be a being from the "Realm of Thunder" while Sorcerimon was from the "Realm of Ice"
The "Mastery Level" is mentioned in a few cards, with Fla Wizarmon having "Mastery Level: Fire Master Level 2", Sorcerimon having "Mastery Level: Ice Master Level 2" and Wizarmon having "Mastery Level: Fire and Earth Master Level 1"
And what about the other medias such as games or animes ? The truth is that even with some of the staff having the wish to do something with them, this never happened. Even considering that they are popular Digimon, especially Wizarmon due to Adventure.
Wizarmon's was Kakudou's favorite Digimon and he hoped to be able to introduce Witchelny in the anime, even more due to the success that the Dark Ocean was. However, this never happened, mostly due to the cancellation of "03".
As such Witchelny was never really mentioned in the anime, with only a few anime profiles mentioning that Wizarmon was from that place. However, the wish to work with Witchelny would be manifested in other material also made by Kakudou.
In the novel it's not explained that Wizarmon is from that world, but also gives more context about it. There it's revealed that Wizarmon was banished from his world due to reading a forbidden Book in order to gain knowledge, he was punished and gained the form that we now know.
And also, it's said that Wizarmon traveled across many different worlds in the past, and when Vamdemon was trying to open the Door to the Human World, he already felt that this was his last journey.
And in the Drama CD for Digimon Adventure's 15th anniversary, in a mission with Tailmon, Wizaromon explained about the other worlds to Tailmon, and explained that he was also from another world, maybe one day he would tell his story to Tailmon.
Other than that, we know that Habu asked what would be the role of the Vortex Warriors. Maekawa and Watanabe explained that all that they can do are the profiles, as it's the job of the anime and games to expand on the profiles, they can simply hope that others do that for them.
Other than the "confirmed" information about Witchelny, there are those that some fans hope to be connected with Witchelny in any way. My favorite is Wisemon (And related Digimon like Piemon and Jokermon), mostly due to magic usage and also the "Book", due to the novel.
Since the "Demon Man" species are from another dimension, and having these magic users being related with Witchelny makes sense for me.
However one that is sadly also not related with Witchelny is Ghostmon, although this one really looks like the Digimon from Witchelny (The same pattern started with WIzarmon), it's simply a Ghost Digimon with not even a single indication that is from Witchelny, sadly.
Now about the games, outside of profiles, Witchelny wasn't really mentioned there. At least in Digimon Partner, Wizarmon explains that he isn't from the Digital World, but from Witchelny, at least some direct reference to it.
