Anyone remember Gavin Williamson talking about assessed grades at A level, when he claimed “Some schools... have literally put every child in as either an A, an A* or a B”
Well I did an FOI to OFQUAL
Well I did an FOI to OFQUAL
Obviously they won't name the schools involved, but we now know that there were 119 centres entering CAGs of only grade B or above
93 of these has 5 or fewer entries
12 6-10 entries
and only 14 had more than 10 entries

Only 9 of these schools were Comprehensive
1 Sixth form and 7 FE colleges
18 City academies
35 Independent schools
42 "other" including private candidates

Looks to me like Gavin Williamson ire should be much more targeted rather than brazenly tarring everyone in order to cover up his own incompetence

To be clear, there were 2858 centres in total
105 of those entering only Bs and As had less that 10 pupils
Only 14 had more than 10 entries

So people understand the process
I initially asked ofqual for the total number of centres & their names
They used ID exemption
My appeal against the refusal failed
However I thought it important to know more about the type of schools @GavinWilliamson was so concerned about

I couldn’t find out the names of the schools but thought I would find out if we were mainly looking at small private schools, hot housing colleges or normal 6th forms
So I submitted another FOI to Ofqual
To their credit, ofqual were extremely helpful & responded fairly quickly
