I find it rather bemusing a complex naming culture such as ours produces such appalling indifference to the practice of naming!!! For the Charambas, names of my FATHERS told a full story of stages and family mood after Chiwashira was executed. Picture this line up of my FATHERS
...their order of seniority: Wurayayi, Tazvishaya, Musungwa (my biological father), Torongo/Dhorongo, Ticharwa, Musasa, Mujere and finally Maraini, the last one to recall the fleeing family’s re-incorporation into colonial villagization scheme in Buhera!! Musasa denoted birth-
...place of my Little Father as the family resumed its flight from near Daramombe in present-day Chikomba to Chiguhune in Gutu and then to Ziro, again Gutu, before crossing Nyazvidzi into Buhera to join colonial maraini!!!
The place they had halted near Daramombe is called Bvumbura, which is marked by a knoll along the Chivhu-Buhera-Murambinda Highway. Naming historicizes a people, a nation!! It’s a compendious narrative of a Nation!!!!
