The headline is misleading and I actually agree with Obama here that branding/messaging is everything in politics.

We’ve seen time and time again over the last decade or so that Americans will accept policies they allegedly opposed if you rebrand or frame them differently.
If “demilitarize the police” sells better than “defund the police” and keeps all the same asks, why not go with it?

Many people are obviously going to disagree strongly on this and that's fine, I don't claim to hold the one truth.
But I do think folks in general need to ask from time to time if their priors are actually counterproductive, even if well-intentioned.
