This is some next-level nonsense. I know the Secretary is still trying to learn the difference between growth and proficiency, so I'll provide a little help so we can clear up a few things. https://twitter.com/BetsyDeVosED/status/1334168228784988166
First, and VERY importantly, "free college" includes 2-year degrees. @BetsyDeVosED, you may not realize it, but community college is college.
I repeat, community college is college.
I repeat, community college is college.
Second, regardless of your opinion of the policy, you can pay for it w/ a progressive tax system.
Here's what that means Madam Secretary: I went to college, so I benefit from the earnings premium of a degree, so I pay a higher tax rate. (I get that paying taxes is unfamiliar.)

Third, under a free college plan, it would still be a market place where students make choices. Schools would receive funding based on enrollment. However, your buddies in the for-profit sector would lose out certainly.
Fourth, the marketplace today isn't working. Those students who can't pay back, disproportionately attend those for-profit schools that you favor.
Lastly, stop with the socialism nonsense. K-12 is free and not socialist. College affordability (or lack thereof) rations higher ed. You shouldn't have to be a DeVos to afford a degree.
You don't have to agree with free college, but you should at least understand your job.
