Today's news that the MHRA has formally authorised the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for use in fighting Covid-19 is hugely welcomed. It is an enormous credit to our universities and life science sector. It is, of course, terrific that the vaccine will be rolled out next week but...1/

we must be realistic. This will not be a straight forward task. The logistical effort is immense. It is inevitable that the path will not be without its challenges. It is likely there will be stumbles along the way. That is to be expected. It is easy to chirp from the sides... 2/

but we must pull together. We should be slow to criticise for the sake of criticism but rather quick to help seek solutions. This is the time for pulling together for the national effort. That means working constructively and not scoring "easy" points. Only then will we prevail.
