I made tens of thousands of calls for the Dems as a professional fundraising manager between 2008-2010, when they got crushed in the midterms and went on to lose a total of 1,000+ seats across multiple levels of government. People mostly said 2 things:
(1) I’m not donating until you do something about these conservative Dems who are controlling the party (everyone said “blue dog” at the time)
(2) I’m not giving unless the health care bill has at least a public option (it ultimately did not).

Their message at the time was pure uncut centrism and they got crushed and still haven’t fully recovered. Why is that not talked about more?
