Age 25 was the 1st year I made real money and I absolutely fell victim to lifestyle creep. Spent so much $$$ partying / trying to impress ppl I didn't care about.
Fortunately I identified the lifestyle creep and cut my living expenses in half w/o much tradeoff in my social life.

My cost of living was highest last year (age 28) but I spent quite a bit of money traveling. It was also my first year living w/o a roommate.
Thinking about it now I can't say I regret it. Especially glad I got to travel with the benefit of covid hindsight.

The big takeaway:
I rarely regretted money spent on experiences with close friends and family.
Whereas I almost always regretted money spent trying to impress other ppl and playing "status" games.

Lastly:
My biased opinion (obv), the risk/reward for living in a populous city like NYC is super attractive for someone in their 20s. Not everyone has the privilege / ability to do so, but 10/10 would highly recommend it if you do.
