How did blogs (which take any time you want to give them) die and podcasts (which are all way too long) get bigger? (I probably know many answers to this and am mostly just venting but will also read your replies).
Looks like there’s one clear answer - it’s all about ROI (Radio On the Internet)
(but srsly) I think the point made about podcasts being more of a passive activity is solid, when comparing the two (which I was doing). Also think my comparison is a little misleading b/c podcasts didn't kill blogs - they could theoretically do well at the same time...
...(e.g. podcasts didn't kill news websites, most of them co-exist fine in that realms). so probably, like some people have said here, social media killed blogs, as did some other media consolidation. Thanks for the replies!
oh also I almost forgot: the death of Google Reader was a huge part of blogs dying.
