Dean finding happiness&peace in death is not the same as saying there is ONLY happiness&peace in death. He was clearly happy&at peace in his life too.But Dean-a fictional character&not a real person-lived a life no-one in the real world could possibly live:he went to hell for 40
yrs,did terrible things he felt he could never atone for.Him making it to heaven showed him there wasn’t a blemish on his soul like he thought there was. Life could never have given Dean that.He also would never have been able to give up hunting.Anyone saying he was gonna get a
job hasn’t been paying attention to the show.Dean would NEVER have been able to lay down that responsibility;that’s just who he is. Death was the only way he would ever have left that life,so he would have been forever looking over his shoulder, getting hurt, worrying about Sam.And
sure,he still would’ve been happy,&at peace with his choices, but he wouldn’t have had the same peace he now has in heaven.THAT is the point ppl are making when they say they’re happy he now has peace. They’re not saying it was the only way, like you’re obtusely trying to assert,
they’re saying if he HAD to die-which is the way it goes if you choose hunting;that final, deadly hunt is always coming sooner or later-we’re glad that he was finally able to put down the burdens he had in life and find peace. He deserved that as much as he also deserved to live.
&,yes,in a perfect world, that would’ve happened in 40yrs time. But the world isn’t perfect.&it isn’t fair.Good ppl don’t always get the things they deserve.&if we start making TV shows based on a fairytale idea that they do,we’ll lose all the stakes that make them feel REAL to us.
(Also worth mentioning that the function of TV/movies/books is not to provide life lessons. It’s first&foremost entertainment. If life lessons can be incorporated, like SPN often has, that’s great. But anyone basing their lives on what TV/movies tell them needs to take a step back.)
