Nobody cares what people who aren't even committed to ending police violence think of “defund the police.” The fact that ending state violence is a PR issue before it's a people's lives issue says a lot.
The police are killing people with impunity while people discuss the likability of the terms used in response to their killings. That's wild. Language is considered more of an issue to some than a force with the power to execute as they please.
The police can kill us as they please and it's virtually impossible to use the system that rules over our lives to challenge their authority to do so. People are more worried about the words used to reject this than the state violence that causes the problem?
Don't let politicians, pundits, and apologists compromise us into the graveyard. Demand more and then more. That's liberatory work, not a self-imposed limitation.
Do not risk your life trying to make people comfortable who will otherwise be fine and carry on as usual if/when the police kill you.
