I despise that tech people call scooter loan companies 'micro-mobility startups'. Simply having an app *must* stop being the bar for being classed as a 'tech startup'.
Similarly, can people in marketing and advertising stop talking about how 'consumers want to engage with brands'. Most people give less than zero fucks about 'engaging with a brand'. They want to buy things and then be left the fuck alone.
I want fewer 'brand choices' and fewer 'opportunities' to 'engage' with your 'brand' in a 'multi-channel environment'.
Your selling fucking toothpaste or biscuits or shoes or whatever. You are not my friend.
The 'relationship to the brand' thing is really just part of this endless push to make us rent everything. I want to buy the thing and then use it. I don't want a toothbrush subscription or to have an ongoing chat with the company that makes my underwear. Fuck off.
