Pfizer have been talking about the tests they carried out on their new #covid19 vaccine. This is the evidence the UK regulator looked at before deciding the mRNA vaccine was safe and effective.
Clinical trials don't follow a set design, and some of the vaccine makers have been criticised for not recruiting enough older people and people from high-risk groups.
Pfizer say they tested the vaccine on nearly 44,000 people around the world. They say they made an effort to recruit those with underlying illnesses, and people with jobs that increased their risk of catching the coronavirus.
About 42 per cent of all the people enrolled in the trials were from minority ethnic backgrounds. Some 10 per cent were Black. About 41 per cent were over 55.
Pfizer said: "Efficacy was consistent across age, race and ethnicity. The observed efficacy in adults over 65 years of age was over 94 per cent."
