I am fearful that dreams about the “vaccine as cure” will have detrimental impacts on our control of the pandemic.

We could control the spread of COVID-19 RIGHT NOW if we fully implemented the public health strategies that we KNOW work.

At the individual level: universal mask-wearing, social distancing, frequent hand-washing.

At the government level: universal basic income, workplace safety standards, Defense Production Act for tests and PPE.

But we are impatient and individualistic as a nation.

And once a person gets their individual vaccination, I fear that they will REALLY no longer care about their impacts on others.

I for one will continue to wear my mask at least through December 2021.
