1. Let’s Recap where we are at.

-the LRB of BC has a clause that states that a union can withdraw services due to H&S concerns.
-We are in a global pandemic and #bced is the only body that does not have a mask mandate.

2. LRB Clause. #bced #bcpoli

3. The @bctf admitted yesterday (to me in writing) that the PHO’s office has not provided any peer reviewed science to justify any of their guidance in #bced.

4. The @bcndp have claimed on numerous occasions that the #bced plan is based on science.

#bcpoli
4.

5. @CDCofBC does not provide peer reviewed science, nor does it provide any references to science in their #bced guidance (or any guidance for that matter).

6. Media has never questioned @bcndp or PHO on why their guidance goes contrary all peer reviewed science.

#bcpoli
5.

7. BC has the lowest COVID testing ratio rate — to anywhere in the world. This too go contrary to all current science recommendations.

8. BC does nothing to mitigate asymptomatic spread in schools. There are no masks required in schools.

#bced #bcpoli
6.

9. Science shows that when infected, children largely present as asymptomatic.

10. Peer reviewed science from all over the world shows that schools are driving community spread.

#bced #bcpoli
7.

11. BC is currently not testing asymptomatic children in schools.

12. Contact tracers are being told to categorize transmission to the community if students know each other outside of school, even though students spend 5 hrs together in an enclosed space.

8.

13. The PHO changed the definition of an outbreak. Every Province and Country in the world uses the same definition. The PHO does not. The BCTF did not challenge them on this.

14. The BCTF has not demanded that the PHO provide peer reviewed science.

#bced #bcpoli
9.

15. The BCTF has not demanded an accounting of the amount of infections there have been in schools. It would take one email to 60 Superintendents. Superintendents are told about every #bced case.

#bcpoli
10.

16. The BCTF could apply to the LRB to have teachers withdraw services in schools and work from home until more precautions are put in place to protect both students and teachers — that are based on verifiable peer reviewed science.

#bced #bcpoli
11.

17. The @bctf needs to push for more accountability and transparency for #bced. Same definitions as other Provinces or else PHO can claim low transmission with false data and definitions.

The @bctf have responsibility to members to ensure we’re safe first.
12.

18. Apply to the LRB to withdraw services from schools and direct members to work from home. Then negotiate with the LRB problem solving tribunals while members are safe.

The time lag in decision making is leaving members vulnerable, particularly in FH.

13.

19. The @bcndp need to determine, quickly, how they define the “greater good”.

Does that simply mean the economy?

Or does it mean that we leave the planet better off, overall, for our children?

#bced #bcpoli
14.

20. Currently over 4000 children have tested positive for COVID-19 in #bced.

21. 30-50% of them could develop long-haulers which means they could be dealing w/ neurological damage, heart and lung scarring, headaches, fatigue, brain fog, etc.

Is that for the greater good?

This is how you hold govt & people accountable. Be a teacher and educate. Show some passion and conviction, too.
