So, the turnover of the FSU roster is fully underway. A few thoughts on this:
1) If you think only dead weight is going to leave, and not some of FSU's best players, that's not really how it works. Culture changes are messy and result in losing both the wanted and unwanted. (1/x)
2) Remember, none of these players have much of a relationships with Norvell b/c of sheer time/COVID. "Breaking up" in a time when breaking up is en vogue, will be easy. Norvell will need his guys who he has recruited over a period of years. This will take time. (2/x)
3) All of this is why measuring the short-term progress of the program with wins and losses -- or even by recruiting rankings/success -- is a recipe for disappointment. The patient is far too sick. The culture is far too damaged. This is a YEARS long rebuild. (3/x)
4) One key to the speed and effectiveness of FSU's turnaround will be whether the fanbase/boosters view themselves as customers or team members. If you are only a Booster when things are going well, you will hinder the recovery.... (4/x)
5) It's why people like @strugglemade105 and @GarnetandGreat are on the right track -- continuing and/or increasing Booster donation is a key component in this culture transformation. If you are waiting around with your money for things to improve ... that ain't it. (END)
