We are extremely concerned about comments a UJS presidential candidate has made about Muslims, Black people and the occupation, and how little attention or condemnation these have received.

Anthony Bolchover's fixation with Muslims and Black people is clear. He mentioned both communities in the antisemitism section of his manifesto, and at the official UJS hustings.
At one of his Q&As he was asked to condemn Kahanism and would only do so while also condemning "Islamist" and "Black supremacist" groups.
We have seen Anthonyâs obsession with âantisemitism in the Muslim communityâ before.

After the Board of Deputies criticised an event with Katie Hopkins in the Jewish community, Anthony again brought up the subject of antisemitism among British Muslims. He claimed this was a justification for Hopkins' popularity and equivocated on whether she is Islamophobic.
One of the most blatant examples of Islamophobia is his tweet about Ilhan Omar, which calls her a "proxy for the Muslim Brotherhood & the brutal regime in Doha".
The only motion he has proposed to UJS conference extends solidarity to Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities.
The fact that he has excluded Muslims from this motion reinforces a pattern of anti-Muslim behaviour.

Anthony has also engaged in occupation denial, claiming that "wherever Jews live, human rights are generally better" and "Israel has no interest in controlling the Palestinians in Gaza".

After a year in which UJS and the wider Jewish community has been talking extensively about anti-racism, it's important that these comments are met with #ActionsNotWords.
