the issue has been that very few feminists in the UK - who have had large media platforms have wanted transwomen not merely excluded from women only spaces (such as public bathrooms --dwell on that) but even excluded from the category of 'woman'.
further issues include that these feminist voices have been amplified by well-intentioned uninformed pro-feminist men and by ill-intentioned informed anti-feminist men and funded by right wing US groups such as the Heritage Foundation. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/07/opinion/terf-trans-women-britain.html
