THREAD: New @IpsosMORIScot poll for @STVNews
✴️SNP support very high – 2x as many would vote SNP as would vote Conservative
✴️SNP most trusted party on key issues: COVID, economy, education
✴️Still a clear lead for Yes: 56% would vote Yes, 44% No if #indyref2 held tomorrow (1/8)
Holyrood elections are still 5 months away - but on these numbers it's difficult to see another party mounting a real challenge to the SNP. Here's the constituency voting intention (2/8)
And here's the latest list voting intention - again the SNP vote looks very strong, with Conservatives in 2nd place and Labour in 3rd (3/8)
Looking at public trust, @theSNP is streets ahead of the other parties on all issues we asked the public about - from #COVID19 to economy to NHS. That includes higher trust on education, where the SNP's record has come under considerable criticism lately (4/8)
Even on areas like the economy, which might be perceived as a relative strength for the Conservatives, the SNP is more trusted in Scotland: 32% trust the Scottish Conservatives to manage Scotland's economy effectively, vs. 59% who trust the SNP to do so (5/8)
The challenge for Labour is stark. The issue the party is most trusted on in Scotland is tackling inequality, but even on this topic, 42% trust Labour compared with 65% who trust the SNP. And the constitutional q remains difficult for Labour, with their support split on indy
On #indyref2, this is the latest in a series of polls since June that have shown a clear Yes lead. 56% of Scots say they'd vote Yes and 44% No, once DKs/undecideds are removed (7/8)
But a quarter of Scots don't appear to hold a completely definitive position in favour of either indy or the Union. Yes campaigners can't afford to be complacent, and all might not be lost for those who want Scotland to stay in the UK (8/8).
