Dr June Raine, chief of vaccines regulator which approved Covid vaccine, says that "no corners have been cut" in approving the jab.

She says vaccine was signed off following the "most rigorous” safety assessments which it passed.
Prof Sir Munir Pirmohamed, chair of Commission on Human Medicine Expert working group, says safety of jab is "similar to other vaccines" with minimal side-effects.

He says that MHRA will do "active surveillance" of vaccine when it starts being used widely.
Prof Wei Shen Lim, chair of JCVI which advises DH on vaccinations, says UK has "one of best" vaccination programmes in world.

Phase one will cover 90-99% of those most at risk of dying from Covid. “Good vaccine uptake will save lives”.
Prof Wei Shen Lim quite clear the most vulnerable will be prioritised for vaccines - but those in Tier 3 will not be at the top of the list.

"Our prioritisation is not dependent on which tier you're in".
