Today is officially my 1 year anniversary being in a senior management role as Director of TP @ YV.

And what a year!

(A Thread, A Short story - Season one 👇🏾)
So boom...in the 1st week/ month of my new role, I was admitted to hospital twice due my kidneys suddenly not functioning properly.

In the 2nd month I had minor surgery & moved house.

By the 3rd month, I led four rounds of recruitment & hired 5 people
In the 4th month, lockdown happened & I (like others) adjusted to a digital shift of project delivery & honoured all TP freelance contracts.

During the 5th month I multitasked managing new starters & WFH whilst being in daily physical pain within a global pandemic.
6th month I wrote a monologue about my love for New York & had major surgery.

7th month I had another minor surgery & had to endure blm protests pushing orgs & ppl that had been historically racist to me state publicly they were anti-racist 🥴.
During 8, 9 & 10 month I was on pt furlough, oversaw 9 visionary TP projects delivered by an amazing team whilst continuing strategic & multiple scenario planning

In the 11 month - my short film (I wrote over a year ago) got selected for Cardiff international film festival .
During the 12 month, TP filmed 3 TWENTY TWENTY films during Lockdown 2.0, more recruitment w/ 500 applications & I was nominated for outstanding woman of the year in the public sector award.
I’m very private, especially when I’m ill, In this time, these ppl & a few others infiltrated my stubbornness & made a special effort to go above & beyond for me...
@sadepbanks tried to bully me into prioritising self care & got me to watch the full 5 seasons of the wire.

@lizdaramola left work to help me in an emergency, then got me to make her hot choc in a hospital waiting area.
@DanielLBailey turned up to keep me company at hospital & then managed to make friends w/drunk ppl/fans of his work in triage at 2am

YV as an organisation was V. supportive of me & @kwamekweiarmah tried to stage an intervention in attempt for me to prioritise health over work.
3 things I learnt (needed reminding)

• You can always make more money but never time.

• Health is wealth!

• You’re not entitled to anything in this world, when good things happen enjoy them, when bad things happen - remember ‘this too shall pass’.

THE END...
