This week's #WellingtonWednesday is his relationship with William Pitt the Younger.
On hearing of Austerlitz (fought #OnThisDay 1805) he is reported to have looked at a map and said "Roll up that map. It will not be wanted these ten years"

Wellington got on well with the Prime Minister, meeting with him in 1805, soon after his now famous meeting with Nelson.
During early December 1805, whilst Austerlitz was being fought, Wellington had been sent with a Brigade to Hanover, after 3 weeks they returned, not needed.

Wellington met many more times with Pitt, usually at his home in Putney, for a Brigade Commander this seems a little unusual, though Arthur Wellesley's brothers were known to Pitt already.
